Artist: Alec Baker
Song: Lava Pool
Location: Sweden
I’ve featured Alec here before. His “Sunslide” kicked off summer back in May. And although the sunshine is fading here in NY, “Lava Pool” sent me strolling down a summertime sidewalk in my mind.

This a trippy, sleepy tune. A really cool mix of organic and electronic percussion holds up a whispered meditation on love and its failings.

Song: もう言わない!
Location: Japan
I don’t understand a single word of this song, but I like it. It has a cool Dream-pop vibe. And it reminds me of jangley guitar 80’s pioneers of the genre, like the Feelies.

Song: Sydnee’s Calling
Location: Dubai, UAE
This is a small song that sounds big. By that I mean, it is a quiet and introspective tune but has a sprawling and beautiful production. Nice stuff. Also, I am pretty sure this is the first time we’ve had a band from Dubai.

The low-fi, roomy feel of this recording really got my attention. And then Stoyer came in with that soulful, bluesy voice. I really dig it.

I’m in a mood I guess. Summer ended two months ago, but not in my head. This cool chillout is a perfect beach groove.
