By his own admission, UK singer/songwriter Paul Alexander Low is not your typical Pop star. However, in 2020 there is really no such thing. The music industry is a different animal than it was just a few years. In the era of digital distribution, playlists and blogs, it has shifted from a label-centric to an artist-centric business. In our modern media era, musicians like Paul can be any kind of artist they want to be.
Like so many others, Low put his musical dreams on hold in his youth, first to attend college and later to work in the corporate world. Now in his late 40s he is taking advantage of the changing industry and making another go at it. True Pop stardom is still incredibly difficult to attain. But that’s okay. It is no longer required.
Ultimately music is something I do because I love it, not because I want it to feed me. I don’t write songs with a deliberate commercial appeal in mind. I write for myself openly and honestly because it’s my key form of expression, a way to release and expose my subconscious thoughts.
Paul Alexander Low
“Feel Your Heart Come Alive” is Paul Alexander Low’s debut single. The song tells the tale of a person holding themselves back from their ambitions and passions, for fear of rejection. The singer guides the person to let go of apprehension and find strength in the support of loved ones. The song moves on a funky bass groove and the staccato rhythm of Paul’s acoustic guitar.
Although this is the singer’s professional debut it is clear that he’s kept his chops up. With a cool, easy vocal he delivers a catchy melody that will stick with you long after the last note fades. In the song’s video, scenes of a beautiful woman in a tropical setting set exactly the right mood for the breezy Folk-Pop feel of the tune.
