Nick Noon’s Timely Wisdom And Classic Sound

nick noon

Nick Noon is an emerging multi-genre singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Nashville, Tennessee. A lifelong musician and songwriter, the talented young artist has written hundreds of songs. However, until now he has kept his work to himself. All of that is changing with the release of his debut single. “Don’t Let The Papers Get You Down” is one half of the brand new double A-side single from Nick Noon. Paired with the song “Dear Delilah,” the track was released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 11, 2021.

Musically, “Don’t Let The Papers Get You Down” harkens back to the heyday of early 60’s Brill Building Pop. The song opens with the sound of protestors chanting. The cacophony is broken by lush orchestral strings. Soon the tune rolls into a smooth live band shuffle of guitar, bass, piano and drums. The orchestra returns in the chorus to give the track a broad, cinematic sound.

Lyrically the song takes a look at the chaos reportedly daily in the headlines of our modern age and says, turn away. As the title suggests, the song advises us to take a step back from the excitement and vitriol. Noon suggests that maybe we should avoid being swayed into bad decisions by the loud voices in our ears and on our television screens. The crooner delivers his sage and timely advice with a classic Pop tenor, immediately familiar melody and a brilliant lyrical style similar to the great workingman poets like Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams and Bob Dylan.

Ignore the outrage of the crowd, the pitchforks they hold are hollow. And just because the words are loud, doesn’t mean they are profound.
