Paul Alexander Low is a UK-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has had a remarkable year. Regular readers of The Static Dive are well acquainted with the talented artist’s story. We have followed along as he launched what is now a successful solo career as a musician. Although his debut single arrived just last August, the song and all of those that have followed are the culmination of a lifelong passion for music which is finally coming to fruition.
For years, Paul Alexander Low worked in the corporate world. Like so many of us, he toiled at a job that paid him well but left him unsatisfied. All the while he wrote songs, played gigs and squeezed music into his schedule wherever he could. In 2020 that all changed. Paul left the cubicle farm behind and committed himself to a musical life. Since then the prolific writer has delivered 5 singles and the “Hell Yeah” EP. In the process his music has been met with radio play, media attention and new fans across the world. This month he takes the next logical step and drops a full length LP.
“Sunshine After Rain” is the debut album from Paul Alexander Low, due to be released worldwide to all major streaming services on July 30, 2021. The record features 11 brand new tracks and two previously released singles. The collection brings us the full range of Americana Soul, Folk/Pop and multi-genre heartfelt acoustic music we have come to know from this deeply talented writer and performer. Paul delivers emotionally charged, universally relatable songs about life, love and lessons learned.
I have included those songs that have some special meaning to me or that have struck a real chord with people in the past at live shows.

The record opens with “Better Life,” an autobiographical anthem for everyone trading in their three-piece suits for sweatpants in this post-pandemic world. The song sets the stage for the emotional ride to come. Paul Alexander Low’s great talent as a songwriter is in his ability to tell deeply personal first person narratives that somehow become immediately personal for the listener as well. Through his honesty as a lyricist he connects at a visceral level.
From the ballad of the everyman “Everyday Hero” to the melancholy torch song “Children Sleep Safe,” Paul Alexander Low pulls our heartstrings and rekindles memories. He delves into some deep Soul territory on tracks like the Delta Blues “You Ran Away With My Heart,” the Gospel infused “Faith” and smooth R&B acoustic slow jam “Don’t Give Up.” The newly married singer offers up plenty of love songs for the romantically inclined. The feelings are real on tracks like “Love Always.”
Throughout the record Paul Alexander Low matches his skillful songwriting with powerful performances. The singer’s own smooth Pop tenor and expert musicianship is augmented by some heavy-hitter friends. The album features popular session musicians Jeremy Stacey (Noel Gallagher, Robbie Williams & Ryan Adams) , Rob Brian (Goldfrapp, Simple Minds, Peter Gabriel) and Simon Johnson (Tom Jones, James Morrison, Lana Del Ray).
