CAT DAD is a singer/songwriter from sunny California with a chill, Lo-fi SoCal sound. He has amassed an impressive catalog in a relatively short period of time. Since his 2020 debut, the prolific musician has released a dozen singles and a four track EP. His song “I Fade Away” went viral on TikTok which led to further success with hundreds of thousands of spins across multiple platforms.
“Here to Stay” is the latest single from CAT DAD, released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 3, 2021. The song opens with a cool, beach campfire Folk vibe featuring the singer alone with his guitar. He sings of the excitement and insecurities inherent to new love. The song is built around a timeless sing-song Pop melody. The singer paints the edges of the mix with beautifully executed, smooth Beach Boys-style harmonies.
In the second verse, an ensemble of bass, drums and a chill tremolo guitar enter the mix. Their laid-back groove, with just a touch of funk, solidifies the song’s Topanga Valley vibe. The song’s musical arrangement is a bit of a stylistic shift for CAT DAD. The change is intentional. About the full-band configuration he says, “I’m excited to be moving from my Lo-fi Pop sound to a more Indie/Alt Rock sound in the future.”
