Liberty_C’s New Melancholy Jazz Remedy

  • by

Katja Cruz (aka Liberty_C) is a familiar face and name on these pages. Throughout 2021, readers of The Static Dive have been lucky enough to follow the Austrian chanteuse’s musical adventure as she found joy through art during trying times. As the world struggled through the ravages of the pandemic, we could join Katja as she looked forward to better days.

Just a couple of months ago it looked like the pandemic was passing into the rearview mirror. In November Liberty_C released the single “New Horizons (I’m Ready)” on which she echoed the sentiments of billions across the world, desperate to be done with this mess. Then Omicron happened and we seem to be headed back to where this all started.

“Remedy” is the latest single from Liberty_C, released worldwide to all major streaming services on December 7, 2021. The new song finds the singer’s signature optimism tempered by the realities of the day. A traditional Jazz arrangement of bass, drums, piano and sax accompany Katja and her background singers on this melancholy ballad as she pleads for a change. She longs for a remedy to the troubling ways in which, “…we treat other people, our kids and this world.” There is still hope in her message, but it has been bruised a bit.

Check out “Remedy”above. You can also hear the song on the Deep Indie Songwriters playlist, or listen on your favorite streaming service. Follow the links below to connect with Liberty_C.
