Brooke R. Calder is a singer, songwriter, producer, dancer and entrepreneur whose career has found her working with legends of pop and dance music from around the world. It is an impressive resume that begins with her rubbing shoulders with the Purple One himself. In 1994 the young dancer appeared in Prince & New Power Generation’s video “Get Wild.”
Not long after her brush with His Royal Badness, Brooke R. Calder suffered a debilitating back injury. Though dancing was off the table for a time, she learned her way around the recording studio with the help of NPG keyboardist Morris Hayes. Soon she was working at Minneapolis’ famed Twin/Tone Records, birthplace of legendary acts like The Replacements, Soul Asylum and Babes in Toyland.
By the early 2000’s Calder was back in the spotlight. She began a series of successful solo projects (as Lolly Pop) and collaborations (A*O*A, Burning Shakespeare, POP INC, The Red Hour) with top DJs and producers around the world. The singer even launched her own label, Manual Control Records. The pains of the pandemic and the tragic loss of her business partner put the singer’s plans on hold for a time. Now she is back.
“Everybody Loves Dancing” is the latest single from Brooke R. Calder with a brand new video released worldwide on July 29, 2022. Originally released in 2006, the remixed and remastered single rides on a timeless dance groove. Disco bass and strings ride a driving four-on-the-floor beat. The singer steps to the mic with a soulful globe-trotting tale of nightlife and strobe lights. Brooke’s voice is cool and confident as she peppers the club banger with just a touch of Siouxsie Sioux-style alternative cool.
