Tom Benz is an independent singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer with a particular style and sound. Although he was born in Germany, from an early age Tom was drawn to traditional American country, bluegrass and folk music. From these influences he has formed a unique and soulful sound of his own.
Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember Tom Benz from singles like “Down in the Willow Garden” and “To Suffer and Die“. In recent years the singer has worked with an ensemble of like minded folks from around the world. Sometimes as a solo artist, and sometimes with his two bands The Stringband Ramblers and Them Damned Ol´Hillbillies, Tom Benz creates timeless acoustic music that invokes images of simpler days.
“Whispering Waltz” is the brand new single and video from Tom Benz, available worldwide via all major streaming services and YouTube. Originally written and recorded by American indie-folk singer/songwriter Sierra Ferrell, the heartbreaker of a torch song is told from the perspective of a betrayed lover. Joined by Mrs. Winkmal on guitar and strings, the singer tells a tragic and slightly mysterious tale in a smooth country tenor and with harmonica in hand.
