Nick Noon is an enigmatic singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer. He first appeared on these pages in 2021 upon the release of his debut single “Don’t Let The Papers Get You Down”. That record introduced The Static Dive readers to a skilled songwriter and producer from Nashville, Tennessee.
With a knack for interpreting our troubled modern world through a 60s-inspired chamber-pop lens, Nick Noon tells tales of love, loss and sociological contemplation. He has a folk-singer’s soul and a showman’s love of cinematic grandeur. The result is a sound that manages to be both nostalgic and still very present in the modern day.
A Jejune Affair is the brand new EP from Nick Noon, released worldwide via all major streaming services on January 20, 2023. The record opens with the cinematic retro-pop of “Costumes”. Amid the backdrop of classic 60’s pop, the singer looks beneath the masks we all wear in our personal and public lives. “When the Chariot Calls” follows and adds a layer of 70s singer/songwriter folk/pop to the mix.
The record keeps the easy AM radio vibes going with the some Beatles-inspired “Bring out the Sunshine”. Nick Noon is joined by a full rock orchestra and a gospel choir for the uplifting anthem. A Jejune Affair closes on melancholy soliloquy “Grant me Speed, a wistful look back at the heartbreak of better days and a prayer for the strength to face the future.
