DownTown Mystic is back with the third single from the forthcoming album, AmeriKarma. Regular readers of The Static Dive know DTM well. The band is the creative vehicle of veteran singer, songwriter and guitarist, Robert Allen. We have followed the past four years of the New Jersey rocker’s decades-long musical journey.
Robert Allen’s indie-credentials go back to the 1960s when he was gigging around North Jersey and Manhattan, rubbing shoulders with the architects of classic rock. These days he has become an international radio and sync-licensing phenomenon. DownTown Mystic’s music has received airplay on 150 radio stations across 25 countries, and song placements in over 230 television and film productions.
“Live” is the brand new single from DownTown Mystic, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 17, 2023. The track opens on a bluest funk groove, led by harmonica wiz Jerry Fierro. DTM rhythm section stalwarts Steve Holley and Paul Page lay down a solid backbeat as Robert steps to the mic with guitar in-hand. He delivers a fist-pumping and inspirational roots-rock anthem.
The single release also includes an original demo recording of the song. That track originally appeared on the album Downtown Demos. The record took a fascinating look under the hood at this prolific and versatile songwriter’s creative process.
