We first heard from 旋林Rowens in February of this year upon the release of his single “Old Photo”. That track introduced regular readers of The Static Dive to an emerging independent recording artist and producer from Taipei, Taiwan. The singer, songwriter, and guitar virtuoso made his recording debut in 2023.
Inspired by popular music from Japan to the UK, 旋林Rowens’ sound is a blend of jazz chops, pop hooks, and dreamy experimentation. He is a thoughtful and poetic artist whose artist name is the plural form of ‘rowen’, a second growth of grass or hay in one season. The name signifies rebirth.
“Pink Rain” is the brand new single from 旋林Rowens, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 26, 2024. The track opens on the low melodic arpeggios of an electric guitar. An ambient organ rides a chilled hi-hat groove as the singer steps to the mic. In a smooth pop tenor, with classic jazz phrasing he delivers a dreamy meditation on love, life, and memory.
