Sami Grisafe’s Excellent “Key Of Us” Featured On Showtime 12/15/19

Sami Grisafe

Sami Grisafe has enjoyed success as both a professional musician and a professional athlete. The story of her achievements in each area is a tale of two cities. The artist splits her time between Chicago and Los Angeles.

She is a working musician in Chicago. And, before the team disbanded in 2017, she was the award-winning starting quarterback for the Chicago Force, a Professional Women’s Football Team. In LA she is the host, production coordinator and co-curator of SunSeshLA.

Showtime

With her new single “Key of Us” Sami adds another feather to her cap. The song will be featured on Showtime’s new series, “Work In Progress” on December 15, 2019. The show follows the story of a lesbian woman who enters a transformative relationship. I haven’t seen it yet, but I imagine this narrative love duet between two women will be featured prominently.

Key of Us

“Key of Us” blends Pop, Alt-Folk and just a hint of Country into an immediately relatable and singable tune. I like a lot about the production. The hard-panned and doubled acoustic guitars are a really nice anchor. The effect opens up the landscape of the song without burying it in delay and reverb. From there, electric guitar, bass, keys, and drums all play subtle supporting roles.

The real star here though is Sami’s voice. Her lead vocal is soulful, warm, and impeccably executed. Her sincere and inviting delivery sounds like a friend telling us a story. Later in the track she is joined by guest vocalist Linsea Waugh. The two singers have a great natural chemistry. The last verse and chorus showcase their perfect harmonies. I also dig the, “oh, oh, oh nah nah nah” hook near the end.

“Key of Us” is produced by KOIL PreAmple and Eren Cannata. You can find it on all major streaming service. Also, tune in to Showtime on December 15 to hear Sami on “Work in Progress.”
