Top 20 Songs Of April 2 1967 – An Epic Year

Top 20 Songs Of April 2 1967

Here’s a fun new thing… the #TBT Top 20. This week we’re checking out the Top 20 Songs Of April 2 1967.

Each Thursday I will post a new playlist containing the Top 20 songs of the current corresponding week from a randomly selected year between 1955 and 2019. All chart data is provided by Top40Weekly.com. I highly recommend the site. If you are a music geek like me (and if you’re here, you probably are), you’ll gleefully waste hours perusing their charts.

This week, the robots chose 1967. Thank goodness! What a great way to start. 1967 was time of cultural and political upheaval. It was a sea change. The sterilized post-war world of the 1950’s and early 60’s was giving way to peace, love, and protest.

The Top 20 Songs Of April 2 1967 provide a remarkable window into that shifting of culture. The Sinatras, The Beatles and The Four Tops were all battling for top positions as protest songs like Buffalo Springfield’s “For What it’s Worth” shared the second half of the chart with the funky soul of Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.

Check out the chart below, and listen to the playlist!
