Luke Hopkins and Scriss Remix and Inspire

Luke Hopkins and Scriss

“U Matter” is a brand new remix and international collaboration between Scriss and Luke Hopkins. The track is a fresh look at Luke’s original inspirational tune. The piece is framed as a love song but carries a message of hope to anyone who feels marginalized or diminished by the world around them.

Scriss is a music producer from Switzerland who specializes in working with artists of multiple genres from all over the globe. His previous releases include collaborations with artists as diverse as New Zealand singer/songwriter Zack Sympson and German Hip-Hop artist, Hase. The artist cites Swedish producer Avicii as a major influence. Of his music, Scriss says he draws his inspiration from the mountains to take you on a trip through his musical world. For his latest, he turned his sights across the Atlantic to the USA.

Luke Hopkins is an American songwriter and producer currently based in Boston, Massachusetts. The multi-instrumentalist and singer has been writing, recording and publishing his own original music on YouTube for the past four years.

“U Matter” was first released in 2016 as an upbeat Pop number. For this collaboration with Scriss he recorded a new, mellower take on the song. This is not the first time Luke has collaborated with other artist. He has worked as a musician and lyricist on a number of other artist’s releases.

“U Matter” starts as a quiet ballad. Luke sits alone at his piano. The track builds slowly at first as Scriss introduces elements of dance and world music. Some calypso inspired percusion and house-style kick drum add a beat as an EDM snare drum roll builds energy at the 1:30 mark.

The transition is subtle, but by the middle of the song the track has been transformed into an electronic dance tune. I really like the way Scriss morphs Luke’s original piano parts into a cool synth chord progression. He does an excellent job of blending the acoustic and electronic elements of the song.

The “U Matter” remix is available on all major streaming services. Check out the video here, and listen to the song on the Deep Indie Dive playlist. Follow the links below to connect with the artists.
