GRLSKOUT (a/k/a Marta) is a DJ, singer, songwriter and producer based in Los Angeles, California. Born in Poland and raised in Canada, she had a musical childhood. The artist grew up listening to and playing music from a broad spectrum of Pop, Rock and Electronic genres.
Over the past 8 years in Southern California, Marta has established herself as a leader among today’s female Music Producers & DJ’s. Under normal circumstances Marta spends her time gigging. She has toured the world and performed high profile gigs including; Fashion Week in Paris, New York & LA, as well as playing on the main stage at Beyond Wonderland, one of Insomniacs leading EDM festivals.
Of course, these are not normal times. As is the case with all working musicians Marta has found herself with some free time in recent months. The versatile artist has used the opportunity to hit the studio. “Gemini” is a collaboration between GRLSKOUT and vocalist Gloria Kim, recorded and released during lockdown.
The song opens with a smooth Ambient Pop verse. As the track builds, GRLSKOUT gradually introduces EDM elements into the mix. At the 1:07 mark the beat drops and the song heads off on a smooth Deep House groove. Meanwhile Gloria sings a stream of consciousness lyric about a past dysfunctional relationship. It’s a great EDM/Dark Pop vibe from two talented artists.
