Pale Blue Moon, Goth Angst and Rock Grooves – It’s Not Real

Pale Blue Moon debuted with a splash in 2019 with the hit single ‘Supernatural.’ That song reached number two on the iTunes Ireland Rock charts. In the subsequent months since the single’s release, the accompanying music video has received over 800,000 views.

The band hails from Drogheda in County Louth, in the Republic of Ireland. They are a supergroup of sorts. Each member previously enjoyed success with his own projects and bands. Pale Blue Moon was formed when founder and frontman Shane Kelly invited them to join him in realizing a new vision.

First they toured across Ireland, the UK, Scandinavia and the US. They opened a number of shows in support of legendary Pogues frontman Shane Macgowan, and his current band the Popes. After solidifying their sound, Pale Blue Moon got to work on their first album with American producer Brian Sperber ( Moby, Feeder, Madonna, staind).

“It’s Not Real” is their second single. Over a driving and crunching rhythmic guitar groove, the band weaves together a Modern Rock vibe with Goth sensibilities. It is a sound pioneered by bands like My Chemical Romance or early Panic! At The Disco. Like those groups before them, Pale Blue Moon mixes themes of angst, and general ennui with high voltage guitar Rock and radio-ready melodies. “It’s Not Real” has all of the above and a hook in the chorus that will stay with you long after the track fades.
