West Philly’s Lou Anthony is a busy man. He’s a popular Hip-hop recording artist and producer who has been making music since 2012. With streaming numbers in the hundreds of thousands, and a monthly listener count on Spotify of over 32K, his original tracks have found a worldwide audience. As if that were not enough, Lou is also a successful entrepreneur. He is the chairman and CEO of The Ludlow Sounds and The Ludlow Authorships.
Musically, Anthony has been on a roll since last year when he released the video of his single “Minds & Hours.” So far that track has received over 69,000 plays on YouTube. In 2020 he is following up that success with two new singles; “Homegirl” and “Classy.” On the latter, Lou is joined by Sacramento rapper GDaPlug.
“Classy” starts with a smooth R&B intro before the track drops to a low and slow beat. Lou Anthony and GDaPlug trade verses over a groove that is a little bit Trap and a little bit old school. Some funky West Coast 90s-style synths add a cool lowrider gangster vibe. Each rapper has his own brand of laid back flow. They are definitely comfortable with one another, easily passing rhymes back and forth. They’re having a good time rapping about ladies, some classy and some not-so-much.
The single is a precursor to Lou Anthony’s upcoming mainstream album debut. “S.E.L.F: Something Everyone Looks For,” is a project three years in the making.
