Taouil (pronounced – Ta wheel) is the professional name of New York City based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer Deric Taouil. The artist made his debut earlier this year. Since appearing on the scene he has released four songs of genre-bending Modern Rock and Pop. His most recent single is the emotionally layered track, “Bleed.” Released on August 21, 2020, the song is available on all major streaming services.
“Bleed” opens with a catchy, descending synth-Pop riff. However, by the third bar of the song we are met with the rhythmic crunch of a Rock & Roll guitar groove. Through the verse Taouil continues that unique marriage of electronic music and Heavy Metal power chords. It is a cool and very creative sound.
In the chorus the track opens up to a spacious mix of 1990’s inspired, melodic Alternative Rock. There is a nice acoustic breakdown in the bridge that adds a cool dramatic turn. Throughout the track Deric delivers an emotional Dark-pop narrative set to an immediately familiar, radio-ready melody.
This song is Bleed, which describes the loss of a loved one and the challenges that come with it. I especially like the line ‘close your eyes and bend the space in your mind’ – you can do anything you set your mind to!
