Sunsets – Stole My Heart

Sunsets is the professional name of the creative duo, Danica and Chase Parker. Partners in music and in life, the Southern California songwriting team and married couple have been together for years but only recently began collaborating musically. They debuted in 2018 with their five song self-titled EP. Since then, the Parkers have released a handful of singles, often toying with the musical styles from Pop eras of the past.

“Stole My Heart” is the latest single from Sunsets. The track is a light hearted and breezy love song that is steeped in the fabulousness of 1980’s Pop. Danica performs an impeccably sugary sweet lead vocal and spot-on harmonies. The autobiographically adorable theme of the track is clear as she sings, “You took a chance and I took your name.”

Meanwhile, the multi-instrumentalist Mr. Parker delivers vintage synth sounds, chorus-soaked rhythm guitar parts and a classic mix of live and electronic drums. It all adds up to a fantastic, feel-good retro groove that sounds like some long-lost Belinda Carlisle single. The song would sound right at home on the soundtrack to a John Hughes teen drama comedy.
