Grs Vonte Drops a New Freestyle Lazer on the Haters

Grs Vonte is an aspiring Hip-hop artist with a unique approach to making music. Although music has always been a passion for him, Vonte had not released any of his own original music until this year. However, he quickly made up for lost time. Since his debut in early 2020t, the rapper has released two full albums and a number of singles.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Grs Vonte moved to South Carolina at the age of 16 and he has been there ever since. Growing up he learned to rhyme by listening to artists like Biggie Smalls and The Lox. Other artists that have had an impact on the Vonte sound are; Juice Wrld, Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti.

What’s particularly interesting about Grs Vonte’s creative process is that all of his rhymes are freestyle. Hip-hop was born in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s on street corners of New York City. Emcees would have freestyle “rap battles” in which they found new way to diss each other in the form of rhymes they developed on the spot. Vonte takes a cue from those pioneers and goes completely improv on his original tracks.

All my of my artwork is freestyled. I’ve never used a pen or pad or any type of writing. I like going off the vibe the beat gives.

“Hater Lazer” is the artist’s latest single. Over a slow Trap beat he runs through a series of stream-of-consciousness rhymes aimed at his haters. The rapper brags, boasts and threatens through a string of NSFW stanzas. Meanwhile hypnotic guitar and keyboard arpeggios set a hypnotic scene.
