Fading Echoes and Beautiful Strangers

Fading Echoes is the professional name of musical duo; Mark Benedetto (bass/vocals) and Matt Glogau (lead vocals/guitar). The band hails from Vineland, New Jersey on the Southern tip of The Garden State. Originally formed in 2008, they’ve seen some other members pass through their ranks including; Nick Cervini (drums/vocals) and Dominic Palmonari (guitar). In their tenure, the band has released two albums, an EP and now a new single in advance of a forthcoming third album.

“Beautiful Stranger” is the band’s first single of 2020 and with it they deliver the perfect message for a very imperfect year. The song runs through a series of narratives about people dealing with hard times, both personally and financially. In each case their lives are made better by a beautiful stranger. It is a wonderful message of hope, and maybe a friendly call to action.

Sometimes we can find life’s hidden beauty in the strangest places, like a smile from a total stranger, or a funny conversation with someone you are waiting in line with at a store.

Fading Echoes

There was a time in the early 1980’s, after the Punk explosion and at the birth of Alternative, when bands like REM, Talking Heads and Television were mixing their quirky and jangly Pop music with occasional flashes of Art/Rock complexity. That’s where Fading Echoes are hanging out during “Beautiful Strangers.” The song has a great Lo-fi retro vibe, and amidst an Alt/Pop rhythm and melody the band mixes in some flashy riffs and clever song arrangement. There is a really nice guitar solo too.
