Brey is the professional name of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Aubrey Greeley. The Bradenton, Florida native has been making music in one form or another for most of her life. An eight-year cellist, she also plays acoustic, electric and bass guitar. The up and coming young artist recently headed to a studio in Spokane, Washington to record her debut solo single, “Getaway Car.”
On the song, Brey sings, plays the bass and guitar. She teamed up with multi-talented producer Jerad Finck. Regular readers of The Static Dive know Jerad as the solo Alt-Pop artist, Blazar. The track pops with the same edgy mix of Alternative Rock and Electronic music which we have come to expect from the visionary musician.
“Getaway Car,” released November 20, 2020 is one of those songs that gets in your head with the first thumps of the kick drum. The track moves on a pulsing bass guitar and a cool glitchy beat. It’s a great sound that is equal parts retro and futuristic. As psychedelic synths and guitars paint the edges of the mix, Brey sings a Dark Pop narrative about escape. She is escaping the chaos of life, heartache and her own mind.
Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and past self harm issues all hit home for me when it came down to finding inspiration for the song. I wanted to be vulnerable with my listeners and give them hope that they too can find peace in all of this chaos we call life.Brey
