Salt House Lavish Explores New Ground On “I Hunt”

Salt House Lavish is the professional name of Andrew Laverick, a musician, composer and producer from the Northeast England town of Stockton-on-Tees. For the better part of three decades the multi-instrumentalist has been making music with a number of bands including the Lazybirds and Boulevard Lounge. Eighteen months ago the veteran musician was asked to help complete a friend’s album. That project inspired Andrew to dive back into music production, and Salt House Lavish was born.

There was a time when the producer was unable to make music. He had developed a carpal/RSI issue which almost stopped him from playing for good. Then he discovered CBD oil which alleviated the issue. With his newfound inspiration, renewed abilities and the downtime of lockdown Salt House Lavish has been free to create in 2020. And that, he has. So far this year the prolific composer has released 3 EP’s and a full album. “Performance Cancelled” is the artist’s latest EP, released November 13, 2020.

“I hunt” is the opening track on “Performance Cancelled.” The song is a wildly creative experimental electronic exploration. Low, reverberating piano chords ride on a pulsing kick drum beat to lay the foundation. Organic and electronic percussion paints the periphery as a disembodied voice sets a mood. As the track progresses live electric bass is met by synths and found sounds to create an industrial funk. It’s a groovy sound.
