Bullets And Knives is a new band from Gembloux, Belgium. The group arrived in 2019 with their debut album the “Art of Dying.” On that record they introduced their high octane, 90’s inspired brand of Alternative Rock. They quickly connected with Rock fans around the world with their mix of dark lyrics and intense musical delivery. A year later the album is still pulling in thousands of listeners every month.
“Fuel” is the band’s brand new song, released on November 16, 2020. The track is the lead-off single to their upcoming sophomore release, “The Incomplete Parts.” The song continues the Bullets and Knives exploration of hard hitting, grungy Alt-Rock and complex psychological themes. The group describes its sound as, “elements taken from a tortured dream of frontman Julien Delay.” The new song certainly fits that aesthetic with intense musical tension and darkly esoteric lyrics.
The track opens with a staccato power chord attack reminiscent of Foo Fighters. That Rock & Roll assault continues throughout the song and creates an urgency that cannot be ignored. Lyrically and vocally the sound brings to mind Alternative legends, The Pixies. That is especially true of the disembodied “ooh ooh” background vocals. Meanwhile Delay sings a powerful lead vocal about a traumatic event from the past.
The new single “Fuel” by Bullets and Knives is a hard hitting, high energy rocker, perfect for any fan of classic 90’s Alternative. Check out the lyrics video, above.
