Sadie is a 16 year-old singer and actress from South Wales, UK. As an actor, the young rising star has begun to rack up some impressive credentials. In addition to her studies at the Young Actors Studio at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Sadie has appeared in short television dramas on the BBC and S4C as well as numerous theatre shows.
Now she is making her entrance as a singer. “A Christmas Wish’” is Sadie’s debut single, released worldwide November 20, 2020. A collaboration with South Wales songwriter Chris Phillips, it is a song of optimism and nostalgia. It is the return to normalcy we all wish we had this holiday season, but we know is on the horizon. Sadie’s youthful energy, combined with her obvious technical skill, bring home the song’s dual function as hopeful look forward and a melancholy realization of the present.
With its Chamber Pop production and traditional Christmas instrumentation, “A Christmas Wish” brings to mind popular Christmas songs like those timeless old Darlene Love classics. From the first rumble of the timpani drum and jingle of the bells, “A Christmas Wish” sets the scene of the Christmases of our memories.
The song builds in intensity as it progresses. By the 2:00 mark, a full orchestra and some rocking drums bring the track to a crescendo. From that point forward the song maintains that lush, Phil Spector-esque wall of sound. Sadie delivers an expert performance, matching the intensity and power of the music perfectly as it builds.
