Zeela is a versatile and multi-talented artist who has traveled the world making music. Born in Germany and raised in Switzerland, his projects have brought him to all corners of the globe over the years. His successful Hip-Hop/Rock band Fensta played a number of high-profile gigs, including opening spots for Suicide Silence and Architects. He then made his way to Ibiza to spin discs as a club DJ. In the United States he worked as a drummer and producer for Los Angeles based band Madd Galaxy.
A few months ago, before the pandemic, Zeela made his debut as a solo artist with the single “You”, a track dedicated to his son and his wife whom he could only see through his iPad while touring with Kamasi Washington. Throughout 2020 he dropped a few more singles as he works his way toward a debut EP, slotted for early 2021.
“Christmas on Facetime” is Zeela’s latest single, released December 10, 2020. As the title suggests the track is a Christmas song born of the unique situation the world finds itself in during this 2020 holiday season. As we all wait for the vaccine, we are forced to socially distance at a time in which families across the world usually come together to celebrate. This year, we will be celebrating Christmas on Facetime.
Zeela takes that bummer of a reality and turns it around, making the best of a bad situation with a catchy and fun Christmas Pop song. The track opens with the singer’s very seasonal melody, a groovy Alt-Pop beat and an airy synth bed. In the chorus the song jumps into an infectious Pop vibe. This is the Holiday song we all need right now as Zeela sings, “I’m gonna make you forget the distance, nothing will ruin Christmas.”
