Gigaknot & Gianna Juliet’s Soulful New Vibe “Broken”

Gigaknot

Gigaknot is the professional name of Markus Andrew, an American Twitch streaming gamer, online content creator and now an electronic music producer. He made his musical debut early in 2020 with the single “Wonderland.” The nine track “Things We Learn From EP” followed. The record is a collection of downtempo Hip-hop instrumentals, ambient synth meditations and Synthwave electronic jams. Still exploring and experimenting with his ever evolving sound, for his latest single Gigaknot moved out of the instrumental realm after connecting with vocalist Gianna Juliet. The result of their online meeting and collaboration is the jazzy break-up song, “Broken.”

Released to all major streaming services on December 24, 2020, “Broken” is a beautiful low-key heartbreaker. The track opens with the sound of rain and a smooth, jazzy electric piano chord change. Gianna enters the mix with a mellow, Lo-fi Hip-hop beat. She sings a soulful and vulnerable narrative chronicling the aftermath of a breakup. A cool analog synth bass line adds some melodic flavor to the backing track as she sings, “You didn’t know what you were losing, now all I am is broken.” It is a simple, sad and universally relatable story, delivered by a talented singer over a smooth R&B groove.
