Eitan Wakshal is a singer/songwriter from Israel. He is a multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass, keys and some percussion. After playing music for most of his life, three years ago the artist made a major life decision to turn his primary focus on his music and songwriting. To that end, in 2019 he began releasing his original compositions to all major streaming services.
“Bright Side of the Track” is one of those songs and a beautiful example of Eitan Wakshal’s classic and soulful sound. The song opens with a lonesome bluesy guitar riff. The singer enters the mix in a cool, Leonard Cohen-esque tone as a mellow acoustic guitar strums. As the verse progresses, the arrangement expands to include a lush arrangement of electric piano, slide guitar bass and percussion. The song gradually transforms into a Jazzy tune with an almost Bossa Nova rhythm. It is a timeless Pop vibe.
Eitan sings a meditative tune, optimistically looking to a brighter day and a better life. One could easily read between the lines and find some clever social commentary about the disparity between the haves and have-nots. But if Eitan intends any such critique, he keeps it close to the vest. As Herb Alpert-style trumpet flourishes paint the edges of the mix he sings, “Every day is a fresh new start.”
The song simply came at a time in my life I needed someone to sing those words for me. I realized it only after I wrote it.
