Tulimeri is the professional name of Finnish musician and composer, Ilari Pitkänen. The 44 year-old multi-instrumentalist producer has been releasing his original music for over a decade. In that time he has produced an impressive collection of mostly synth-based Alt-Pop music. With nearly two dozen singles and a full length album under his belt, Ilari is still looking to the future with a brand new music.
“Break the Patterns Baby” is one of Tulimeri’s most recent singles. The song is a bit of inspirational motivation set to a catchy and musically sophisticated Synthwave groove. A beautiful classical piano and cello duet opens the track. Soon synths and drums enter the mix and transform it into a Depeche Mode style New Wave groove. As the song progresses Ilari moves emotionally and dynamically within that framework. During the bridge, for example, the track swells to a theatrical Art-Rock style crescendo until falling back to a mellow meditation.
Lyrically the song delivers a bit of philosophical advice, encouraging us to shake things up a bit. Stop, look around and see the world from a different angle. It is an uplifting message set to a powerful composition. Tuomas Pitkänen composed the music and Ilari Pitkänen (Tulimeri) wrote the lyrics. As is often the case on his songs, the ensemble accompanying Ilari consist of an international group of professional musicians whom he collaborates with virtually.
