Kidd J & Jordan LaFaver’s New Heartbreak “Ghost”

Kidd J

Kidd J is the professional name of songwriter and rapper, Jovani Vazquez. Although he is just 22 years old, the Southern California native has lived more life than his young age suggests. By his own account Vazquez has been heartbroken, broke, and homeless. Since 2019 he has been turning his difficult memories into art. Channeling the pain into music, he has released a steady string of singles over the past two year as well as the full length 2020 album, “Fell for You.”

Jovani’s music combines elements of Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B and even Emo into mellow and often heartbreaking examinations of love, life and loss. He achieves this rich hybrid of styles by frequently collaborating with other musicians, singers and producers. With a keen ear and innate Pop sensibilities he is able to stir the ingredients into a cohesive and distinctly unique sound.

“Ghost” is the latest single from Kidd J, released to YouTube on January 8, 2020. The track is an emotional and beautifully somber break-up song. Guest singer Jordan LaFaver opens the song with a soulful vocal and piano intro. He sings of the emotional devastation a recent breakup has taken on the writer. A mellow downtempo groove drops and Kidd J adds detail to the heartbreak with a smooth rap flow and deeply personal tale of ghosting in the name of self preservation. Two artists trade verses once more as haunting a piano and synths paint an ambient and somber scene.
