School Cheese is a brand new aspiring Hip-Hop artist who introduced himself to the world on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020. Originally from Nigeria, the rapper now lives in Canada where he works as a completely solo artist. He made his first entry into the music industry with his debut single, also titled “School Cheese.” The song is a freestyle rap over classical music and a Lo-Fi Hip-hop groove.
On the track the artist pairs an old-school beat with a loop of a musical ensemble playing a simple but dramatic chord progression. The sample consists of a string quartet and an analog piano playing a series of melodic arpeggios. The choice of music sets a cinematic backdrop for School Cheese’s freestyle, stream of consciousness monologue. His sometimes emotional tales of past, present and future come in an impressive machinegun-style vocal delivery.
This is my first song. It represents everything I want from the music industry and everything I desire in life, with the hope of a career in music.
