Sleepykidd is an independent musician and electronic music composer from Indonesia. The 20 year-old artist debuted last year with the wildly creative “Downtown.” That track combined elements of experimental electronic music with a smooth Pop melody and just a hint of Hip-hop. The track connected with fans. To date it has earned over 20K spins on Spotify.
“Mozza” is the latest single from Sleepykidd, released to all major streaming services on December 21, 2020. Once again the artist has created a beautiful groove that defies easy classification. The track opens with swirling ambient synths, setting a dreamy, otherworldly vibe. A cool, trippy sample plays the song’s main melody as an analog bass rolls with a smooth and easy beat.
Although the piece is almost entirely instrumental, halfway through the track Sleepykidd mixes things up by including one verse of vocals. A female singer delivers cryptic lyrics in a beautiful and soulful take. The sound slides perfectly into place in the super chilled downtempo beat. Among others, the artist lists Petit Biscuit as an inspiration. We can feel his influence on “Mozza,” and it works really well.
