Lizzie Astorga is a singer/songwriter with a big talent and a positive attitude to match. She was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and raised on the border of South Texas. A few minutes on her social media profiles is the perfect pick-me-up if you are feeling low. With a love for the fashion and music of the 1970’s (especially Carole King), she dances, poses and sings (in English and Spanish) with a seemingly inextinguishable optimism. It is infectious.
The 23 year-old Mexican/American musician has been playing guitar since she was ten years old and wrote her first songs a year later. From the age of 14, Lizzie dedicated herself to live music, performing 6 days per week throughout her adolescence and early twenties. In the past 18 months she has taken a break from live gigs and instead focused on songwriting and recording. She released her debut single “Beautiful Day” in 2020.
“Take a Look” is the second single from Lizzie Astorga, released to all major streaming services on January 22, 2021. True to form, the song finds the singer delivering words of encouragement to a world in pain. Her message is simple, if you want the world to change “Take a Look” at yourself. As Gandhi said, “be the change you want to see in the world.”
Musically the track features all of the lush musical arrangement of the great Adult Contemporary Pop music of the singer’s beloved 1970’s. Over an up-tempo groove, Lizzie layers her acoustic guitar with ethereal vocal harmonies, keys, electric guitars and some really smooth bass playing. At the heart of the track is Lizzie Astorga, smiling at strangers.
