Neil and Adam is the professional name of songwriting duo, Neil McCloskey and Adam Hilligardt. The two friends from St. Louis, Missouri found an early mutual creative spark in High School and have been writing songs together ever since. They come from an impressive music industry pedigree. Neil’s cousin/godfather, Tony Saputo was the drummer for country music superstar Reba McEntire’s road band. Sadly he was one of the seven band members tragically killed in a 1991 plane crash. Adam’s father, Fred Hilligardt, was a former songwriter for Motown Records.
The music of Neil and Adam has been connecting with fans since 2015. They have won four best song awards in Pop, Rock, Folk and Americana genres via the Akademia Music Awards. Their debut single ‘Everything Is Alright’ recently found a new life in the UK. Last August the track aired on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ fashion segment. Since then, it has been charting on the Euro Indie Music Chart.
“Bright Light” is the new single from Neil and Adam, released to all major streaming services on January 6, 2021. The track opens on an ambient mix of guitar, piano and synths. Soon the song shifts up to a pristinely recorded and performed upbeat contemporary Pop groove. Meanwhile the singer delivers a tale of the confusion and uncertainty of a new romance. In a smooth tenor he sings, “You are the ocean and i wish i would drown.” The ‘Bright Light’ of the title is love, obsession and infatuation. And we have all been there before.
