JUN is an up and coming Hip-hop artist from the Northwest of England. Over the past two years the young rapper and singer has released a series of singles on YouTube. In that time he has amassed over 1000 followers and his videos count their numbers in the tens of thousands. Despite all of this attention he hadn’t yet jumped to other streaming platforms, until now. With a new year he is making the move to the mainstream.
“Gazing” is the latest single from JUN, released worldwide to all major streaming platforms on February 6, 2021. The song opens on deep ambient synths and a slowly picked electric guitar. Chanting background vocals give the track the feel of a dream. JUN then enters the mix and sets the stage for a tale of unrequited love.
A talented rapper and singer, JUN’s melodic style flows easily between the two. On “Gazing” he sings of the girl for whom he has been pining. At the :35 mark a slow, heavy Trap beat drops and becomes the background for his heartache. As he sits on the sidelines he watches other men take her time. Hoping to get out of the friend zone he sings, “If I pick up the phone will you take this pain away?”
