“Hey You, Jaybird” is the new single from Jonathan Davenport, dropped to all major streaming services on February 19, 2021. It is the third release from his forthcoming debut solo album “And The Birds Say.” Written during his time working with the National Park Service, the song is a rightfully critical commentary on mankind’s relentless destruction of our natural world.
Musically, “Hey You Jaybird” features the fabulously live sound of top notch musicians jamming in the studio on a bluesy Indie Rock waltz. A soulful Hammond organ and airy piano chords set a mellow mood. Meanwhile, the track is loaded with groovy improv back-and-forth. A wild electric guitar rips Acid Rock leads while the drums and Jonathan’s acoustic double bass jam on a cool Jazz vibe. It’s just a great sound.
