Tia McGraff is an internationally recognized, award-winning singer/songwriter. Over the past 20 years the Canadian artist has released a series of critically acclaimed Americana albums. For more than half of that tenure she has been making her musical journey with her husband Tommy Parham. Partners in music and in life, the two have entertained audiences around the world with their heartfelt and passionate Country-fueled original songs.
“What if” is the latest single from Tia McGraff, released on January 1, 2021 to all major streaming services. The song is her first since the 2018 release of her album “Stubborn in My Blood.” A lot has happened in the world since 2018. Very little of it has been good. Tia’s new song is a reaction to that reality.
However, “What If” is not about the past. Tia briefly references a time “when truth took a beating,” but only to advise us, “Don’t breathe that in. Don’t keep it alive.” From there the song becomes an optimistic look toward the future. The tune rides on a classic Adult Contemporary Country/Pop arrangement featuring lush vocal harmonies, electric and acoustic guitars, piano and a touch of banjo. Meanwhile Tia sings a hopeful and emotional ballad in which she asks, what would happen if we were each to become the change we want to see in the world?
