Love And The Weather’s Timeless Vibe

Love And The Weather is a brand new band out of Barwon Heads, Australia. Their debut six song eponymous EP was released worldwide on December 11, 2020. Since then, the Surf Coast musicians have been making a splash on multiple continents. They have received airplay on high profile radio stations at home in Australia as well as numerous media profiles and reviews in the US and the UK.

With sparse and organic arrangements, Love And The Weather invoke memories of Cowboy Junkies and Mazzy Star. They have a dreamy and melancholy sound that owes as much to Alternative legends like The Velvet Underground as to modern Americana and downbeat Indie Rock. It’s a timeless vibe. Even the band’s name is from another era, taken from a classic 1940’s Irving Berlin-penned Jazz standard.

Their current single, “Coming Back” is like a long exhale. It is the sound of a slow breeze across the Outback. Vocalist Natisha Sands tells of the wind in the moonlight and a river disappearing into the distance in this dreamy poetic meditation. She sings, “I’m coming back like the tide, to you” while band members, George Sands (bass), Monty and Casey Hartnett (drums and guitar/keys, respectively) set a hypnotic scene. Saxophonist Stephen Elsom then floats into the mix with soulful and sorrowful blues.
