ghostgirlsimp is the professional name of Yang Shu, an 18 year old producer, songwriter and classical musician from Kobe, Japan. Although Shu made an official debut as ghostgirlsimp just last year, the artist has quickly made up for lost time.
In the last 12 months since the release of the debut SoundCloud mixtape “Saudade EP,” they have released dozens of singles and EPs on multiple platforms. Yang’s music consists mainly of lo-fi/chill beats. However, the talented and multifaceted artist has also dropped a full album of classical music titled, “Best Of: Classical Music.”
“When The Heart Dies” is the latest single from ghostgirlsimp, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 25, 2021. The track is a mellow Hip-hop tune set to a smooth Chill-hop piano track. A downtempo Lo-fi beat rolls along as strings and synths swell on the horizon. Meanwhile Shu drops a bit of laid back Emo rap, rhyming about a lost love and hoping for some solace.
“When The Heart Dies” is my first song of the hip-hop/rap genre, and the first song I’ve ever put my own voice on. I wanted to experiment with different genres. It still has a bit of lo-fi in it, as you can hear from the chill beat.
