Min the Universe is a NYC-based EDM composer and producer with an adventurous spirit and a storied past. His journey has brought him from Shanghai to Liverpool, Boston, Atlanta and finally New York. He played guitar in Alternative Rock bands and even worked as an executive on Wall Street before attending the New York Topliner Camp, a leading incubator for rising songwriters and producers. The program was the final push he needed before diving into EDM full time.
Regular readers of The Static Dive will recognize the name Min the Universe. The prolific artist has appeared on these pages twice before. After debuting with two singles in 2020, Min burst into 2021 with his tremendously successful “Westworld Reanimated,” an electronic interpretation of the iconic Westworld TV show theme song. He followed in February with “Instant Decays,” his EDM/Synthmetal collaboration with fellow New York City producer Without A Chord.
“A Million Fireflies” is the latest single from Min the Universe, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 31, 2021. This time the producer has teamed up with fellow Topliner alumnus and classically trained Opera and Jazz vocalist, Nina Grace. The song is an upbeat EDM/Pop groove which pairs Min’s cinematic compositional style with Nina’s powerful and anthemic vocal.
Grace delivers an inspirational tale of perseverance with equal parts soul and virtuosic technique. With exactly the right message for 2021 she sings, “From the embers, we will rise.” Meanwhile Min brings an equally emotional and uplifting groove to the dancefloor, signed with his signature style. Swirling, syncopated percussive synth arpeggios meet a deep analog sawtooth bass, orchestral strings and a driving Disco-tinged Deep House beat. It’s a big beautiful sound.
