The John O’Brien Experience (J.O.B.E) is the professional name of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John O’Brien. With a resume over 40 decades long, he has traveled the world from the US to Australia, entertaining thousands along the way.
Over the years John O’Brien’s songs have garnered extensive airplay on terrestrial radio stations as well as SiriusXM. He has enjoyed success across the digital landscape as well. His music has been well received on all DSPs (digital streaming platforms). On Spotify his recent hits each count their streams in the hundreds of thousands.
“Stop!” is the latest single from J.O.B.E, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 9, 2021. The song tells a detailed narrative of a man in a psychologically unhealthy relationship with a woman who entices him to stay with her beauty and some kinky sex. Eventually he gets out, but it’s not easy.
Musically the song rides on cool bluesy guitar and bass groove. As O’Brien sings of his torrid affair in a smooth and soulful tone, the backing vocalists add some tasteful and well placed harmonies. Retro ambient synths and some well placed, ringing guitar chords give the tune a slick 80’s vibe. It’s a cool and mellow sound with a bit of edgy lyrical subtext.
