Jonny Cool is the professional name of Jonny Sanders, a multidisciplinary artist from Portland, Oregon. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist composer, Jonny has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. Over the last decade he has crossed paths with the likes of Kanye West, Pharell Williams and John Legend. He has worked in TV, animation and fashion.
Throughout his many collaborations Cool has toured throughout the Northwest, establishing himself as an artist in his own right. In that capacity he has warmed up for artists like the Hip-hop legends Rakim and Digable Planets. He;s been recording as well, releasing a steady stream of popular albums and singles since 2017.
“UFO” is the latest single from Jonny Cool, released to all major streaming services on March 19, 2021. The track is connecting with listeners worldwide, racking up tens of thousands of spins. A cool mix of soulful Pop and Alt/Hip-hop, the song is a funky number in praise of Jonny’s Dream girl. It just so happens she has green skin and flies a spaceship.
Whether or not the alien setting is metaphor, reality or delusion does not matter. “UFO” is a ton of fun. Jonny Cool pairs an old-school Hip-hop beat with Soul grooves and Jazz moves. He raps in the verse and sings in the chorus about his perfect girl from another world. Meanwhile strings, synths, saxophones and a Steinway create a feel-good Funk.
