C15 is the professional name of Caleb Eder, an aspiring Hip-hop artist from Northern Indiana. Although he has been making music for over 12 years he kept it on the backburner while attending college. School kept his hands full as he simultaneously pursued a degree in Psychology and a career in baseball. He was even part of the 2019 MLB draft. However, after graduation he decided to chase his dream of working in the entertainment industry.
As an artist, C15 counts T.I. and Lil Wayne as both a musical influence and a professional inspiration. Their example and the support of his wife and family have motivated the rapper to hit the ground running. Since his 2020 debut the prolific artist has made up for lost time. In that time he has already released a full length album, a handful of singles and a brand new EP.
“I Don’t Care” is the new record from C15, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 4, 2021. The 5-song EP is an excellent showcase for the artist’s diverse talents. He and his producer Aj Berning have put together a record that explores Pop hooks, smooth grooves and dark Trap moods. Throughout the collection, he flows smoothly from soulful melodies to hard rap, and from topics lighthearted to deadly serious.
The record opens with the Indie-Pop vibes and lo-fi island beat of the title track, as the singer dismisses life advice from unwanted influencers. From there the record turns to “Real Ones,” a Trap shoutout to C15’s family and friends. Cutting to a nice soulful R&B melody in the chorus, the track has a subdued but positive feel.
Things go a bit darker on the autobiographical Emo Trap track “613,” as C15 recounts traumatic memories of a childhood home. “Carolina Cruisin” lightens the mood with a perfect summertime jam featuring some nice dream-pop guitar. The EP closes on the downtempo and dramatic Trap and ambient synths of “Hustle,” a dedication to the grind.
