Head Fake Vs Dub Fu Masters – New Wave Club

head fake

Head Fake are a trio of “semi-anonymous” veteran songwriters and producers. Recording in studios from Los Angeles to London, since their 2019 debut the international act has worked to bring 80’s New Wave and Alternative music back into the collective consciousness.

Their music blends the organic sounds of electric and acoustic guitars, bass and drums with classic analog synths and drum machine grooves. The end result is a timeless mix that brings to mind 80’s acts like Joy Division and The Cure or the 60s/90s UK Hippie Rock/Hip-hop hybrid acts like Happy Mondays and Stone Roses.

“Head Fake vs. Dub Fu Masters” is a new 3 song EP from the band, released worldwide to all major streaming services on November 16, 2020. For the record, the group employed the talents of Dub Fu Masters to remix previously released Head Fake tunes. On each track the Dub Fu Masters bring that fabulous 80’s vibe into the modern era with club beats and techniques, while maintaining the retro feel and human element with well placed guitar samples and synthwave production.

The resulting record is a wild mix of modern EDM styles and plenty of classic New Wave quirkiness. From the 80’s synth-Pop melodies of “One Step” and “Overjoyed” to the four-on-the-floor House groove of “Trump Funk,” the record takes us back to the dancefloor. The members of Head Fake explain that their goal was to get the club kids, “back to the fun, crowded club atmosphere they used to experience, before the recent suspension due to the pandemic.”
