YRB Papii is an up and coming Hip-hop artist from Newfoundland, Canada. Since the rapper’s 2019 debut “Papii Flows” he has released a dozen singles in a wide range of styles. He has enjoyed son a number of tracks in that time. Songs like “Pablo,” “Why You Mad?” and “Glizzy” count their streaming numbers in the tens of thousands. His tracks range from the humorous to the hardcore. His latest release definitely falls into the latter category.
“Blicky Blicky” is the new single from YRB Papii, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 16, 2021. On the track Papii is joined by fellow Newfoundland rapper, Sammy Prince. The song finds the two skillfully maneuvering this dark and dramatic gangsta rap tale of violence, money and women. They each do so with a smooth flow and excellent chemistry between them.
A minor-key classical piano and sampled woodwinds create a dramatic backdrop as YRB Papii and guest emcee Sammy Prince drop bars over a hard Trap beat. The rappers trade verses on this hardcore Drill Rap. The tune deals in gang scenes and violent themes. For instance, the song’s title is a reference to gun fire. YRB Papii rhymes in the song’s catchy chorus, “I got that blicky blicky, only thing that’s clicking with me.”
