Mandi Crimmins’ Battle With Herself On The New Video “Anyone But Me”

Mandi Crimmins

Mandi Crimmins is an emerging Alternative Pop singer/songwriter who shares her personal struggles through her music. By letting her own vulnerabilities and insecurities fuel her creative process, the Boston native hopes to connect with fans who are also battling with issues like anxiety and depression.

Since debuting in 2019 with the track “Lying to Myself,” Mandi has made a big splash in the independent music world. Her songs have enjoyed success on multiple platforms. Last year’s “Making Me Hate You” was a particular highpoint. To date the track has over 55,000 streams on Spotify alone. Incorporating elements of Pop, Rock and Darkwave the singer explores the sometimes difficult edges of interpersonal relationships as well as her own complicated mind.

“Anyone But Me” is the latest single and video from Mandi Crimmins, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 16, 2021. The Dark Pop track combines Mandi’s inner monologue of self doubt and anxiety with an infectiously catchy hook and slick Pop production. An airtight bass and drum rhythm section drives the tune as layers of guitars and keys paint a lush tapestry of sound. Meanwhile Mandi sings the universally relatable low self-esteem mantra, “I’d change me if I could.”

The song’s video finds the singer standing in front of a mirror and attempting unsuccessfully to transform a blonde, Barbie-doll version of herself with minor makeup and outfit alterations. The entire process makes her even more unhappy. We only see her smile at the end when she has finally shed all of the “sugar, spice and everything nice” to reveal her true leather-bound, red-haired Rock & Roll self.
