Brandon Riley is an independent singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Kansas City. At a young age he was inspired by the music of classic Pop and Rock legends like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to pursue a musical life. He spent those early years honing in his skills as a guitarist, vocalist, pianist and songwriter. Through high school and college he joined and formed a number of bands.
Each project was a building block, teaching him the ins-and-outs of the recording process and the music business. With a few years of experience and experimentation under his belt, Brandon embarked on a solo career. For his introduction to the music world he has adopted the style and philosophy of the 20’s and 30’s, a time in which America fell from the heights of the Roaring Twenties to the depths of The Great Depression. He sees the resiliency of that generation as an inspiration for our own difficult times.
Although his personal aesthetic is inspired by the 1920s, his sound is very much of the 2020’s. “Marco Polo” is the debut single from Brandon Riley, released worldwide to all major streaming services on January 15, 2021. With his friend, producer and former bandmate Jack Elliot, Riley has created a smooth downtempo bit of Neo-Soul/Pop. Ambient synths, ethereal guitars and EDM bass tones ride a mellow groove that incorporates elements Trap and Lo-fi Hip-hop. Meanwhile the singer employs layers of vocal harmonies and a laid back vibe to tell a tale of modern day relationship confusion.
