n.e.r.d. life by D’Vo (or just D’Vo for short) is a Christian Hip-hop and Soul artist from Houston, Texas. Growing up, the young artist was surrounded by music and even had a recording studio in his home. Over the years he has been inspired by the richly diverse artist culture of his hometown. A connoisseur of musical styles, his creative curiosity is surpassed only by his devout Christian faith. His professional name reflects that devotion. “n.e.r.d.” stands for ‘Needing Eternal Redemption and Deliverance.’

The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist producer and entrepreneur debuted in 2019 with the album “The Codex: I’ve Got Next.” In 2020 he delivered the follow-up full-length, “The Codex: Running the Point.” All of n.e.r.d. life by D’Vo’s music is released on his own ‘Element 11’ record label. From the Trap Soul of “U Kno What it Dew” to the Disco vibes of “Me & My Friends” and the Lo-fi Gospel of “Jesus Christ,” the new album finds him exploring far and wide across the musical spectrum.
“Halitosis” is the latest single from “The Codex: Running the Point,” with a brand new video released April 14, 2021. On the track, D’Vo questions the motivations of some of his peers in the music world. Over a mellow Boom Bap beat he raps and sings about the importance of keeping your priorities straight while he confronts those obsessed with fame, fortune and social media prestige. The track is built on a soulful 90’s Hip-hop groove. With a cool and confident flow D’Vo delivers his message with the perfect balance of humor and earnestness.
The track’s animated video matches this mix of comedy and conviction. The short film depicts D’Vo repeatedly encountering an acquaintance who tries to convince the singer to follow him in his love of money, status and debauchery. D’Vo is not having it and instead calmly delivers his level-headed message of faith, hard work and integrity.
