Big Bus Dream is the professional name of Charlotte, North Carolina based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer, Mike Shannon. For the better part of the past two decades, Shannon has been carving out his own unique niche in the independent music industry. His latest effort is a thoughtful look back at that history.
First in the early 2000’s with his band 4th Ward and in recent years as Big Bus Dream, Mike has made a career of creating smart, catchy Indie-Pop and singer/songwriter Alternative Rock. In that time his music has topped indie charts on both sides of the Atlantic and his music has been featured numerous times in television and film.
“Giant in My Mind” is the latest single and video from Big Bus Dream, released to YouTube on April 15, 2021. The song is a melancholy look back at Shannon’s musical journey. In a gruff, almost whispered tone he recounts a time of youthful rock star dreams. Written and recorded during lockdown, the song finds Mike wistful in quarantine. Over a mostly acoustic, slightly psychedelic Lo-fi backing track he sings of writing songs with his band mates and planning for the big time.
