Pimms Brooke’s Soulful New Single “Try”

Pimms Brooke is a UK-based singer, songwriter and producer with an international resume and a rich multi-genre repertoire. Growing up in North London she was inspired by legendary singers like Etta James, Nina Simone, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Celine Dion. The adventurous young artist experimented in Pop, Jazz, Soul and Funk.

After studying music, stage and business in college she moved on to a career as a recording and performing artist. In 2018 she debuted with the 6 song EP, “Under the Layers.” That record connected with fans and tastemakers alike, receiving spins at the BBC, Virgin and Radio 1. The singer also spent seven years in Dubai, performing a string of high profile gigs at The Act, Pacha and shows at popular events like Fashion Forward, GQ Magazine and Formula 1. She has performed for celebrities and dignitaries alike while receiving press in Time Out Dubai, Cosmopolitan Magazine and the local Dubai newspapers.

“Try” is the latest single from Pimms Brooke, released worldwide to all major streaming platforms on May 14, 2021. The track is a smooth Dark Pop ballad featuring elements of R&B and electronic music. Opening with minor-key electric piano chord progression and lush ambient synths, Pimms enters the mix with her signature soulful and smokey vocals.

Brooke delivers an excellent performance as she sings of the struggle just to exist in this mad world. She sings of “Trying’ to be human,” with palpable emotion, skilled Jazz phrasing and R&B soul. The track drops a mellow Trap beat in the second verse as the arrangement expands to include orchestral strings and synths. It’s a powerful sound, and at its heart is a deeply talented singer.
